Why train martial arts?

Regular exercise & Weight Loss –  One of the easiest ways to lose weight, martial arts keep your mind engaged and challenge you on many levels, which will help you stay motivated for the long haul. A healthy lifestyle is what the martial arts are all about. Discipline, consistency, persistence, and drive are all side effects of training Martial Arts.

Self-Defense – It’s like the old saying, “better safe than sorry.” This is true in self-defense… but beyond the actual practicality of being able to hold your own, it’s just great to remove that anxiety and doubt about whether or not you are capable, and whether or not you could handle yourself if needed. Also, self-confidence will be of great use to you in every facet of life, and this type of self-confidence almost only comes through the daily training struggle to survive on the mat, especially with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Peace of mind – Controlling anxiety and learning to breathe are byproducts of training. Knowing that your ego might just get hammered into oblivion after the 15 year old makes you feel like an infant, lends you somewhat of an edge in day-to-day annoyances and other anxieties. Controlling yourself, being the observer of the mind, watching your thoughts, and controlling emotions is one of the greatest benefits of training.
